man, this was a dope article to read. Thank you for sharing your perspective, many similarities including my family is from China as well. We see the same silk pj's effect with someone like Conor McGregor. Thankfully I've found internal values & pursuits to keep my love for the game. Been in off-season/ recovery since April. Enjoy your time off bro.
Super valuable perspective for early career traders, thanks for sharing.
Weird to think about trying to be a trader without having that fire under your ass forcing the grind and creating those addicting "win" moments. Feels like a lot of the NBA veterans rekindle their love for the game via mentorship/leadership and adapting their game to fit the new risk/reward profile (which you sort of allude to). Bit of a mindset switch from trading to secure financial freedom vs. trading for passion.
Personally have traded full-time since '22, made it, and now taking a break as well for the past couple of months. You've put into words exactly how I've been feeling these past months, good to know there's others who feel the same way. Thanks for sharing this.
Have you fantasized about working a retail / human facing job just to make your life more interesting?
I sometimes think it would be a fun use of time to work at an ice cream shop or something but if I think about closing up shop at 11pm the idea sounds less fun.

Making money in trading for a year is relatively easy if you’re on a decent desk.
Making money for 10+ years consistently is extremely hard.
Requires constant evolution and investment. Most of which may not pay off.
As the markets get more efficient the marginal effort to stay competitive is harder and harder.
The firms that constantly stay in business are the ones who never stop grinding and pushing.
